This is a RISC OS application which can be driven from a multitasking user interface (preferred) or from the command line.
It is specifically designed to extract the contents of tar files (or tar files which have also been compressed using BZip).
UnTarBZ2 is supplied as a self-extracting code download for RISC OS machines.
Simply download the “UnTarBZ2.util” file onto a RISC OS system, ensure the filetype is set to ‘Utility’ (&FFC) via the Filer menu, then double-click to run it. The contents will be decompressed into the same directory.
Alternatively, you can install from the command line by simply running the file and optionally pass a destination directory as a parameter (to avoid decompressing into the same location as the self-extracting archive). E.g.
*SetType $.UnTarBZ2/util Utility
*Run $.UnTarBZ2/util $.Apps.ROOL
